General
This document details how to backup databases in Metrohm software (Tiamo, MagIC Net, StabNet and Viva). When a database size reaches 1GB, this backup procedure should be completed. A backup can always be restored in the software.
Procedure
- Open software.
- Click on the Configuration > Tools > Program administration.
- Click New - enter a Directory name. Click on the File button and select directory location.
- Metrohm recommends the C drive.
- Click on the Database > File > Close.
- Click File >Database Manager.
- Record database names.
- Select a database > click Edit > rename by adding the date. For example, Tiamo 06032023 or MagIC Net 06232023, then click OK.
- Click Edit > New > enter the “original” database name. The database name must be
exactly the same otherwise the method(s) will generate a database error. - Select the "original" database, click Backup. Select the directory name (see bullet #3) and enter a backup name. Click Start.
- If the database is very large, an error will occur stating the database is open even though it is closed.
- Exit Database Manager and software, wait 30 seconds, then reopen and return to Database Manager.
- Click on the Access Rights tab and assign Edit rights, as needed.
- If Automatic Backup is needed, click on Backup tab, select Backup Monitoring and Start Backup Automatically. Select a date in the future when you would like backup to occur. Select the Backup Directory (bullet #3).
- Click on Monitoring tab, check Monitoring size, enter 1500. Click OK.
- When the backup is complete, verify the location of the backup as stated in the directory in bullet #3.
- The directory will have a folder named as follows:
- Tiamo - Determination
- MagIC Net – IC_ Determination
- StabNet – Stn_ Determination
- Viva – Va_ Determination
Troubleshooting
- If Backup or Restore is greyed out and not an executable tab, then the User of either Tiamo or the PC doesn’t have access or assigned rights. Contact your IT department or manager.
- Verify that the BackupServer.exe is running.
- Locate C:\Program Files\Metrohm\tiamo\bin.
- Click on BackupServer.
- If the Backup folder created has special characters, then the backup wasn’t properly created. Delete the folder and repeat previous steps.
