Connecting Sartorious Secura®/Quintix® to tiamo

Connect the balance to the PC via cable 6.2151.110 (cable USB (OTG) Mini B St-USB A) by connecting the min B to the balance and the USB A to the tiamo PC. The following drivers should automatically be installed:
- USB Composite Device
- Sartorius Composite Device

USB Mass Storage Device

To get all drivers, the PC should be connected to the network for potential Windows updates.
NOTE: USB CDC serial port emulation (COM) should be available in Windows.
- At the Secura®, Quintix® balance the print button is only visible if a USB cable is connected at the mini USB plug in.
- Start tiamo at the PC and go to the Configuration view.

Define a new Device → Balances → Sartorious.

Open the Properties, select the RS 232 tab and choose the appropriate COM port and check the RS 232 connection settings. If the correct COM port is not available in tiamo, restart software.

Compare the RS settings in tiamo with the settings at the Sartorious Secura®/Quintix® balance. To do this, push the button in the left corner of the balance touch panel.

Select the wrench button.
-
This will open Settings, scroll down to USB port.

Select USB port.
-
Select RS 232 Configuration.
-
Check all parameters as indicated by the table below by pressing the checkmark. Return to main dialogue.

In tiamo select Configuration → Properties → RS232 tab → Connect. The following window will open:

On the balance, select the print button to send the actual weight to the software.

You should now be able to read the recorded value for weight in the sample size field as well as the device name and unit of measure.
- Select OK and close the Properties window. The balance should now be visible in the Devices table indicated with a green 'ok' status. The balance is now ready for use.
Connecting Sartorious Cubis® to tiamo
- Connect the Sartorius Cubis® with a USB A cable St-USB B St (e.g. 6.2151.020) to the tiamo PC. All necessary drivers should be installed automatically.

The following window may pop up:
- Start tiamo on the PC and go to the Configuration view.

Define a new Device → Balances → Sartorious.

Open Properties → RS 232 tab and choose the appropriate COM port. If the correct COM port is not available, restart tiamo and try again.

In tiamo, open Configuration → Properties → RS 232 tab → Connect. The following window will open:

On the balance, select the 'print' button to send the actual weight to the software.

You should now be able to read the recorded value for weight in the field sample size as well as the device name and unit of measure.
- In tiamo, select 'OK' and close the Properties window for the balance. The balance should now be available in the Devices table indicated with a green 'ok' status. The balance is now ready for use.
Connecting Sartorious Secura®/Quintix® to Touch Control/Ti-Touch
- Setup balance for USB/RS232 connection

To connect the Sartorious Secura®/Quintix® you will need the Data Cable Mini USB/RS 232 9 pin. Sartorious order number: YCC03-D09. This cable is not included in standard balance delivery.
- Plug the USB cable into the back of the balance. The balance can be powered on during this step. Do NOT connect to titrator.

- Configure RS232 on balance

On the balance main screen, select the menu button in the lower left corner. The main menu will open.

Select the wrench button on the left side of the screen. The settings view opens.

Scroll down to USB ports. Select USB port.

Select RS232 Configuration.
-
Check all parameters as indicated in the table below:
- Return to main dialogue.
-
On the balance home screen, a print icon should now be seen in the top right corner.
-
Power down the system by returning to the menu and pressing the power icon.

- Connecting to 900TC/Ti-Touch
-
Switch off the titrator and connect it to the USB/RS232 converter (6.2148.050) and the Sartorious balance cable to the balance.
- Power on the titrator.

- Configuring USB/RS232 Converter to the TC/Ti-Touch
- On the TC/Ti-Touch, press the 'SYSTEM' button on the lower left side of the home screen.
- From the System menu, press 'DEVICE MANAGER' on the lower left side of the screen.
- Ensure 'USB/RS232 Adapter' is an available menu item.
- Click 'USB/RS232 Adapter' and then select 'Edit'.
- In the device setting screen, confirm that COM1 lists the following setting: 9600/8/N/1/HW.

If the setting is not listed, select COM1 and press 'Edit' in the lower right corner of the screen and enter the following settings:
- Configuring a balance on the Touch Control/Ti-Touch
- On the titrator, select 'DEVICE MANAGER' and press 'New'.
- Select the 'Balance' button.
- Return to the Device Manger screen and a balance should now be listed.
- Highlight the balance entry and then select 'Edit'.

Complete the following fields as follows:
- Confirming the balance is properly connected
- If the home screen shows 'Favorite' buttons instead of the sample data entry lines, select the 'Sample Data' button.

Press the print button on the balance.

The TC/Ti-Touch dialog window should pop up with the weight information from the balance.
- Connecting Sartorious Cubis® to Touch Control/Ti-Touch

Connect the Sartorious Cubis® with a USB A St-USB B to the TC/Ti-Touch.

Connect the USB B to the balance and the USB A directly to the TC/Ti-Touch.
- Switch on the TC/Ti-Touch and wait until the software has booted up.

- Configure balance/RS232 on TC/Ti-Touch
- On the TC/Ti-Touch, select the 'SYSTEM' button.

When the balance is connected you will see it under System → Device Manager → Device Name → Device Type → USB/RS232 adapter.

Highlight USB/RS232 adapter and click 'Edit'.

Highlight COM1 and select 'Edit'. Ensure the following settings are met:

Return to Device Manager and click 'New'.

Select 'Balance' and the following window should open:
- Choose Sartorious as balance type and COM1 for RS232.

Return to Device Manager. You should now see the balance under the listed Devices.
- Select the 'Home' button.
- Configure Cubis® balance for communication with TC/Ti-Touch

On the balance, select the 'Menu' button → 'Device parameters'.

Scroll down and choose 'Configure ports'.

Select 'Configure serial ports'.

Click 'Serial Port WP1 USB port'.

Compare the settings of your balance with the settings of the touch screen. All settings should reflect the following:
- Select 'Save' and press the 'Back' button until you return to the Main Menu.

On the balance, press the 'Print' button. The recorded weight should be transferred to the TC/Ti-Touch.
- The balance is now ready for use with the TC/Ti-Touch.

Connecting Sartorious Secura®/Quintix® to 848/877 Titrino plus/870 KF Titrino plus
- To connect a Sartorious Secura®/Quintix® to 848/870/877 Titrino plus you will need a RS232/USB box (6.2148.030) and the Sartorious Data Cable Mini USB/RS232 9-pin (YCC03-D09).
- Connect the RS232/USB box with a 6.2151.020 USB cable to the 848 Titrino plus by using a USB hub or a 6.2151.100 adapter.

Connect the 9-pin plug of the Sartorious YCC03-D09 Data Cable Mini USB/RS232 9-pin to the RS232/1 connector of the RS232/USB box.
- Switch on the Titrino plus.

Check the settings for the COM1 port at the 848/877 Titrino plus/870 KF Titrino plus.
- Under 'Settings' and external devices choose 'Balance' and 'Sartorious'. Return to the main menu.
- On the balance, enter the same settings as above by navigating to 'Settings' → 'USB port' → 'RS232 Configuration for Baud rate, Data bits, Stop bits, Parity and Handshake'.

Return to main dialog and select the 'Print' button.
- The sample size should now be transferred to the Titrino plus and is visible in the 'Sample size' line on the main screen of the instrument.
