Introduction
The Ultra Trace Rotating Disk Electrode (Ultra Trace RDE) is designed for voltammetric applications that require high-sensitivity trace analysis with a solid-state working electrode. To ensure reliable performance, the Ultra Trace RDE must be used with dedicated platinum-free accessories. Instead of a platinum auxiliary electrode, a glassy carbon rod is used. Before beginning, gather the required components, including the Ultra Trace RDE drive shaft and electrode tip, reference electrode, glassy carbon auxiliary electrode, the RDE measuring head, and the appropriate electrode cables.
During setup, the Ultra Trace RDE is installed in the RDE measuring head, followed by the installation of the reference and auxiliary electrodes. Each electrode is then connected to the appropriate instrument input. Before use, the electrode surface should be regenerated using the Ultra Trace polishing set (6.2802.020) by rotating the electrode at 2000 rpm while polishing with light pressure. The electrode should then be conditioned according to the application instructions to regenerate and activate the electrode surface. Following these preparation steps helps ensure accurate, reproducible voltammetric measurements.
