Introduction
The Platinum Rotating Disk Electrode (Platinum-RDE) can be used with the 797 VA Computrace for voltammetric applications that require a solid-state platinum working electrode. To ensure reliable performance, the Platinum-RDE must be used with the appropriate dedicated accessories, including a platinum auxiliary electrode. Before beginning, gather the required components, including the Platinum-RDE drive shaft and electrode tip, reference electrode, platinum auxiliary electrode, and the appropriate measuring head and electrode cables. Platinum electrode tips are available in 1 mm, 2 mm, and 3 mm diameters to accommodate different application requirements.
During setup, the Platinum-RDE is installed in the measuring head in place of the stirrer, and the MME opening is sealed with the supplied plug. The reference and auxiliary electrodes are then installed, and each electrode is connected to the appropriate instrument input. Before use, the electrode surface should be conditioned according to the application instructions to regenerate and activate the electrode surface. To preserve electrode performance, avoid mechanical treatments such as polishing with aluminum oxide. Following these preparation steps helps ensure accurate, reproducible voltammetric measurements.
