Introduction
The scTRACE Gold electrode integrates all three electrodes required for voltammetric measurements into a single assembly: a gold wire working electrode, a carbon auxiliary electrode, and an Ag/AgCl reference electrode. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use the dedicated measuring vessel designed specifically for the scTRACE Gold. Before beginning, gather the required components, including the scTRACE Gold electrode, MME measuring head, electrode holder, blanking plugs, and the appropriate electrode cables.
Before installing the electrode, the MME measuring head must be prepared by removing the two nitrogen (N₂) connections and sealing the corresponding ports with the supplied blanking plugs. The recesses for the MME Pro and reference electrode are then sealed before the scTRACE Gold is mounted in the electrode holder and inserted into the measuring head with the gold wire aligned toward the stirrer. Once installed, connect the working, reference, and auxiliary electrode cables to their corresponding inputs. Before use, the electrode surface should be conditioned according to the application instructions to regenerate and activate the electrode surface. Following these preparation steps helps ensure accurate, reproducible voltammetric measurements.

- To use the scTRACE Gold with the 884 Professional VA, an MME measuring head is required. This head must first be prepared for use with the scTRACE Gold. To do this, the two N2 connections for the MME are removed and the respective outputs on the measuring head are sealed with blanking plugs. The recesses for the MME pro and the reference electrode are then sealed with the provided plugs.
- The scTRACE Gold is attached to the electrode holder and inserted into the MME measuring head. Align the scTRACE Gold so that the gold wire points towards the stirrer.
- Connect the electrode cables to the corresponding electrodes:
WE – WE
RE – RE
AE – AE - Solid-state electrodes must be conditioned to regenerate and activate the electrode surface.
