Training - Fundamentals of Combustion Ion Chromatography

Fundamentals of Combustion Ion Chromatography

Our 2.5-day, hands-on Combustion Ion Chromatography (CIC) course is designed for laboratory professionals seeking to strengthen their understanding of their CIC system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical laboratory exercises, participants will explore the complete CIC sample flow path, gain experience operating the system using MagIC Net software, and develop essential skills in preventative maintenance, data analysis, and troubleshooting. Whether you're a routine operator, analyst, chemist, or laboratory supervisor, this course provides the knowledge and practical experience needed to optimize instrument performance, improve data quality, minimize downtime, and confidently manage day-to-day CIC operations.

Agenda

Day One: CIC Fundamentals & Flow Path

  • System overview
  • CIC configurations and applications, key hardware components and their functions, understanding the combustion and IC subsystems, how samples travel through the complete flow path
  • Flow path deep dive
  • Sample introduction, combustion process, gas and liquid flow paths, absorber and transfer components, IC separation and detection
  • Factors influencing performance
  • Recovery and reporting limits, contamination sources, sample matrix effects, method performance considerations
  • Practical workshop
  • Trace the complete CIC flow path, identify critical system components, review common hardware configurations, operation and startup procedures

Day Two: Software, Operation, & Data Review
